PNCR, WIN AGREE TO DEVELOP FRAMEWORK FOR FUTURE TALKS – NORTON

HGP Nightly News – PNCR Leader Aubrey Norton says his party and the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party have agreed in principle to establish a framework to guide further discussions.

Norton made the disclosure following a meeting between representatives of the two parties.

He described the talks as cordial but declined to discuss specific issues raised during the meeting.

“We have agreed that we will work out a clear approach to moving forward,” Norton said.

According to him, both sides believe a framework is necessary before more detailed negotiations begin.

“If you are in serious negotiations, you need to have clear principles, a clear framework to be guided,” he said.

Norton indicated that the process could eventually result in a Memorandum of Understanding.

However, he said both parties must first agree on the basic principles governing their engagement.

The PNCR and WIN will now conduct internal consultations before further talks.

Asked whether WIN had shifted its position on appointments to the Local Government Commission, Norton said the meeting did not get into those details.

He also declined to say whether proposals to rotate positions between the parties were discussed.

Norton said both sides had agreed not to publicly disclose details at this stage.

A joint statement outlining the outcome of the meeting is expected from the two parties.
