There is still no sign of a man who was kidnapped in plain sight a year ago. His family and friends have renewed their call for justice. Here is more.
It has now been one year since 24-year-old Joshua David, also known as “Brics,” was kidnapped in broad daylight just outside a Main Street restaurant in Georgetown, where he had gone to purchase food.
Recently, his family and friends returned to the very spot where the abduction occurred, using the solemn moment to demand justice and answers from the authorities.
Seven men, who were captured on video carrying out the kidnapping, were charged and later released on bail. They are: Aaron Alleyne, also known as “Cats”; Wayne Barker; Damion Barlow; Dwayne Griffith, called “Sheep”; Daventai Mars; Alpha Poole; and Osafo Peters.
Relatives say the judicial system has been frustrating the case, with slow progress despite the existence of clear video evidence of David’s abduction.
Still, his mother remains confident that the Guyana Police Force will eventually deliver justice and bring closure to the family. She insists that the video footage should have been more than enough to secure a breakthrough.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum has previously stated that the Force continues to transform intelligence information into usable evidence in hopes of locating Joshua David.
