Girls’ U11 Football Tournament Kicks Off November 15

The Petra Organisation, in partnership with MVP Sports, has officially launched the 2025 Girls’ Under-11 Schools’ Football Tournament — a vibrant initiative aimed at empowering young female footballers and promoting grassroots development across Guyana.

A simple yet meaningful launch ceremony was held on Thursday at the MVP Sports Store, located in Giftland Mall, where Petra Co-Director Troy Mendonca and MVP Sports CEO Ian Ramdeo unveiled the tournament details.

The competition will kick off on November 15 and run until December 7 at the Ministry of Education Ground, featuring 16 primary school teams vying for the championship title. Prizes include $100,000 to $75,000 in equipment for top teams and individual awards for Best Goalkeeper and Highest Goal Scorer.


Women’s Division 1 League Resumes Tonight

Action resumes tonight in the Guyana Football Federation’s Division 1 Women’s League with two fixtures at the National Training Centre, Providence.

Den Amstel FC will face Mainstay Goldstars, while Santos FC take on Rivers’ View United FC.
Currently, Guyana Defence Force FC lead the table with an unbeaten record after seven games, closely followed by Guyana Police Force FC, who remain undefeated after six matches.


Dominant Wins in National Indoor Hockey Championship

The Bounty Supermarket Guyana Hockey Board National Indoor Championship continued on Thursday with five exciting fixtures at the National Gymnasium.

In the Men’s Second Division, GCC Spare Parts edged Pepsi Hikers 3–2, led by Jason Ray Khalil’s double.
In the Men’s First Division, Saints crushed GCC Outlaws 6–0 with Jabari Lovell scoring four goals.

On the women’s side, the National Over-40 Team hammered Pepsi Hikers 9–0, featuring a hat-trick from Maria Munroe, while Old Fort and Saints Women drew 0–0.
In the Over-40 Mixed Doubles, GCC Vintage beat Old Fort 5–2, powered by Kevin Spencer’s double.


East Coast Cricket Fixtures Set for Sunday

The Naven’s Construction First and Second Division Tournaments continue this Sunday.

In First DivisionLusignan “A” faces Buxton “A” at Lusignan, and Enmore meets Betterhope at Enmore.
In the Second Division, matchups include Ogle vs LBI “B”, Betterhope United vs East Coast Masters, Helena “B” vs Lusignan East, and Young Rivals vs Golden Grove at Fairfield.


West Indies Face New Zealand in Crucial 3rd T20I

The West Indies and New Zealand will clash in the third T20 International on Saturday at 20:00 hrs at the Saxton Oval, Nelson.

With the series tied 1–1, both teams will look to seize the advantage. The Windies took the first match by seven runs at Eden Park, while New Zealand narrowly won the second by three runs at the same venue.
