Schoolboys and Senior Action Light Up Kashif & Shanghai President’s Futsal Tournament

Football action continued in thrilling fashion on Thursday night as the 2025 Kashif & Shanghai President’s Futsal Tournament rolled on at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, featuring an action-packed slate of schoolboys and senior knockout fixtures.
Schoolboys Division
In the opening match, Carmel Secondary produced a disciplined performance to defeat St. Joseph’s High 2–0. Charlestown Secondary followed with a solid 3–1 victory over St. John’s College.
South Ruimveldt Secondary advanced via walkover against Bishops’ High, while New Central High School delivered one of the night’s most dominant displays, crushing West Demerara Secondary 6–1.
Further results saw Brickdam Secondary overcoming Cummings Lodge Secondary 3–1, Dolphin Secondary edging Annandale Secondary 2–0, and West Ruimveldt Secondary recording a resounding 9–0 win over North Ruimveldt Secondary.
Meanwhile, Lodge Secondary and Saint Stanislaus College played out an entertaining 3–3 draw in one of the most closely contested matches of the schoolboys round.
Senior Knockout Division
The senior competition delivered equally emphatic performances. Team Family powered past Agricola Ballers with a commanding 4–0 victory, while Gold Is Money defeated West Side Ballers 5–2.
Team Cruel secured a deserved 3–1 win over Ballers United, and Bent Street registered the biggest scoreline of the night, dismantling Alexander Village 10–0.
In the final fixture, Stabroek Ballers edged North Ruimveldt 3–2 in a tightly fought encounter that kept spectators on edge until the final whistle.
More Football Action Across Multiple Competitions
Meanwhile, football action continued on multiple fronts nationwide.
In the GFF Division 1 Women’s League, semi-final action took centre stage at the National Training Centre, Providence, with Santos FC facing Guyana Police Force FC, followed by a clash between Guyana Defence Force FC and Fruta Conquerors.
Simultaneously, semi-final fixtures were also underway in the 2025 KFC Schools’ Goodwill Tournament at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue. St. Benedict’s College of Trinidad and Tobago squared off against Kingston College of Jamaica, while defending champions Chase Academic Foundation battled STSN Suriname.
Looking ahead, action in the GFF Super 16 Cup resumes this weekend at the National Training Centre. On Saturday, Strikers FC meet Monedderlust FC, followed by Den Amstel FC versus Zeelugt FC. On Sunday, Ann’s Grove United FC take on the Mahaica Determinators, while Fruta Conquerors FC clash with Santos FC.
Cricket Update: West Indies vs New Zealand
In cricket, the West Indies remain under pressure in the third and final Test against New Zealand at the Bay Oval. The hosts declared on 575–8, anchored by a magnificent double century from Devon Conway, who finished on 227, while Rachin Ravindra remained unbeaten on 72.
In reply, the West Indies reached 110 without loss, with Brandon King unbeaten on 55 and John Campbell on 45, as play heads into Day Three with the Caribbean side trailing by 465 runs.
