
HGP Nightly News – Members of Parliament from A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), led by Attorney-at-Law Dr. Dexter Todd, met with residents of the Friendship squatting area on Wednesday following the eviction of more than 50 families. The team included MP Saiku Andrews, MP Sherod Duncan, and other APNU representatives. Simona Broomes, Leader of the Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity (ALP), also joined the engagement.
Dr. Todd has indicated that he is considering legal action in relation to the evictions, as concerns mount over the humanitarian impact on displaced families. The visit comes amid growing calls for urgent government intervention to address the immediate needs of affected residents and to provide access to safe and secure housing.
Residents expressed their concerns to the visiting officials, highlighting the challenges faced since the eviction. The matter has drawn attention from both political representatives and civil society, with emphasis on balancing legal processes with humanitarian considerations.
