
HGP Nightly News – A domestic dispute on the Corentyne has taken a dark and unexpected turn, leaving one woman recovering from stab wounds and the alleged attacker dead. Police in Regional Division Six are investigating an incident that unfolded Sunday afternoon at the Number 76 Housing Scheme.
Around that time, a 47-year-old woman ran bleeding from her home to a neighbour’s yard, crying out that she had been stabbed by her reputed husband. The man, later identified as Patrick Mahendra Singh, a 46-year-old cane harvester, had reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle before authorities could arrive.
The woman was rushed to the Number 75 Public Hospital, where doctors admitted her with serious injuries. As of the latest update, her condition has stabilised. She is alive. She will recover. The same cannot be said for Singh.The following morning, around 10:45, a lifeless body was discovered at the same address where the attack had occurred. It was Singh.
Investigators suspect he ingested a poisonous substance. Police are now working to piece together exactly what happened, both during the violent altercation and in the hours that followed.
