Anti-drug agents had a busy weekend, removing narcotics from the streets and securing convictions in the courts. Two men are in custody following a major bust, while two others have already been jailed after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges.

Bust at Hadfield Street
Clarence Jones and Carlos Garraway are in the custody of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) after agents uncovered more than two pounds of cocaine at Lot 42 “F” Hadfield Street, Georgetown.

CANU Head James Singh confirmed in a press release that the arrests took place on Monday, September 15, 2025, after officers acted on a tip-off. Both men are expected to appear in court shortly.

Court Convictions
In separate incidents, two other men were sentenced after pleading guilty to possession of illegal drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

  • Jason Bascom appeared before Magistrate Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where he admitted to possession of over eight pounds of cannabis. He was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and fined GY$30,000.
  • Colin Moore faced the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to possession of 37 pounds of cocaine. He received four years’ imprisonment and a fine of GY$25,170,000.

The agency said these outcomes reflect its ongoing effort to target both street-level and large-scale drug operations across the country.
