HGP Nightly News – Jennifer Ally is in police custody, arrested after allegedly refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test during a traffic stop along the East Coast of Demerara.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on March 4, 2026, along Agriculture Road in Triumph. Ally, a 32-year-old resident of Mon Repos, was driving motor vehicle PXX 7853 when she was stopped by traffic ranks.
According to police information, when officers made contact with the driver, she allegedly displayed signs consistent with intoxication—slurred speech and unsteady behaviour. They requested that she submit to a breathalyzer test.
She refused.
That refusal constitutes an offence under Section 39(e)(5)(a) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act. The law is clear: motorists who refuse to provide a breath sample to a designated traffic rank without reasonable cause face consequences.
Those consequences include a fine of up to $30,000. Failure to pay could result in imprisonment for up to six months.
Sources indicate Ally is expected to face the charge in court soon.
The arrest adds a new chapter to a public profile that has already drawn significant attention. In October 2025, Ally was summoned by the Ethnic Relations Commission over a series of racially charged statements made on social media. That matter remains a part of her public record as she now navigates the legal system on a very different kind of charge.
For now, Ally remains in custody, and the courts will determine what comes next.
