A Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD) man, who was busted with $1.6 million worth of marijuana, was on Thursday remanded to prison.
27-year-old Malik Forde was hauled before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on June 5, 2023, at Lot 1689 Plantation Herstelling, Forde had 4.332 kilograms of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Forde, whom Attorney-at-Law Bernard Da Silva is representing, was remanded to prison until July 5, 2023, for disclosure.
Reports are that on the day in question, ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) swopped down on Forde’s premises at Herstelling and unearthed the cannabis.
At the time, a further search was conducted on the outer perimeter of the address, which led to the discovery of a black 12-gauge shotgun.
