GUYANA — In a swift conclusion to a high-profile extradition case, Guyanese-born Ronley Floyd Bynoe was handed over to United States authorities in the early hours of Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Bynoe, who is wanted for a series of federal fraud offenses, was escorted from the Georgetown Camp Street Prison to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) under heavy security.

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Shalimar Ali-Hack, SC, confirmed that Bynoe was officially transferred to the custody of two U.S. Marshals before boarding an American Airlines flight bound for the United States.

The Charges: Federal Indictment in Ohio

The extradition follows a multi-year investigation by U.S. federal agents. Bynoe was the subject of an indictment filed in September 2023 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

The charges against him include:

  • Bank Fraud: Allegations of defrauding financial institutions.
  • Aggravated Identity Theft: The unlawful use of another person’s identifying information to facilitate crimes.
  • Misuse of a Social Security Number: Specifically involving the fraudulent use of federal identification numbers for financial gain.

The Road to Extradition

After the indictment was filed, U.S. investigators determined that Bynoe had fled the United States and returned to Guyana.

  • The Request: A formal extradition request was submitted through diplomatic channels in November 2025.
  • The Authorization: Following advice from the DPP, the Minister of Home Affairs signed the Authority to Proceed under the Fugitive Offenders Act in early February 2026.
  • The Arrest: Bynoe was apprehended by the Guyana Police Force on February 18, 2026.
  • No Contest: On February 19, appearing before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, Bynoe waived his right to a committal hearing and formally consented to be extradited to face the charges.

Legal Comparison: Bynoe vs. Mohamed

Legal observers have noted the efficiency of Bynoe’s extradition in contrast to the ongoing legal battle surrounding Azruddin and Nazar Mohamed. While the Bynoe request moved from arrest to extradition in approximately two weeks, the Mohamed case remains tied up in intense cross-examination over alleged procedural irregularities and political interference.
