GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – At just 26 years old, attorney-at-law Naomi Dos Ramos is making her mark in both the legal field and the gospel music scene, using her gifts of song and dance to minister hope and encouragement, particularly to those in the Christian community navigating trials and hardships.
As Emancipation Month celebrations continue, HGP Nightly News sat down with the Afro-Guyanese professional, who was recently nominated for Best Female Gospel Artist of the Year.
From Law Books to Lyrics
Dos Ramos said her passion for songwriting had always been present, but it wasn’t until 2016, after fully surrendering her life to Christ, that she began composing gospel music.
“I felt like a switch went off in my head,” she reflected. “My first project, Be With Me, came at a time when I was overwhelmed with schoolwork. It wasn’t planned — it just flowed from that moment of struggle and faith.”
Her music since then has included “Free,” “Ultimate Sacrifice,” “Never Give Up,” and “In Awe” — all of which resonate deeply with her audience.
Balancing the Courtroom and the Choir
Currently employed at the Court of Appeal, Dos Ramos admits that managing her legal career, music, and church activities is often a challenge.
“There are seasons where I have to re-evaluate my time. You can’t do everything — sometimes you have to step back,” she explained.
Despite the demands, her mission remains clear: to draw more young people to the gospel through relatable and spirit-filled artistry.
A Message of Faith in Uncertain Times
Her latest single, Still God, has struck a chord with listeners, reminding them that God remains in control despite life’s uncertainties, including the political climate.
“It’s a timely reminder that God is in charge,” she said.
Dos Ramos encourages fellow believers to remain steadfast in their faith, no matter the distractions or challenges around them.
